Position Title:  Preschool Teacher Assistant

 Neff Early Childhood Center:  Monday – Friday / 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm

                                        

Qualifications:  

• Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
• Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
• Experience working with preschool children
• First Aid and CPR Certified
• Knowledge of DHS Licensing Requirements

 

Skills and Abilities:

Must have the ability to understand preschool children and find teaching them a pleasure. Energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork required. All candidates should have a warm and friendly presence, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy and curriculum.

 

Position Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety of all children through constant supervision
• Engage in activities to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the children in the program, based on their individual development
• Assist with classroom management
• Discuss children’s development and communicate with families daily
• Deliver small group lessons that introduce early math and literacy concepts
• Child assessment
• Build children’s self-esteem
• Comfort children
• Encourage independence
• Establish routines and provide positive guidance
• Participate in staff meetings, community and school activities, and professional development
• Assist with copying and preparing materials and centers
• File, organize, wash toys, and disinfect surfaces
• Replace teacher, when needed
