Description | Job Summary: Technology Support Specialists are non-certified professionals who provide support for instructional technology and building operations. They serve as the first line of support across multiple academic, technological, and administrative systems to ensure staff and students have timely and effective access to the tools, resources, and information. The Technology Support Specialist approaches all work with a service mindset, always fostering a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and excellence.
Reports to: Director of Technology
Salary/Benefits: $35,000-55,000 (225 Days) Competitive Package – Commensurate with education and experience plus health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with educators and instructional teams to support learning goals through the use of academic tools and platforms
- Provide support to staff and students in utilizing and integrating technology hardware and software effectively
- Assist with device inventory, repair, replacement, maintenance, damage reporting, imaging, and recycling
- Provide support for district-issued devices (iPads, Chromebooks, MacBooks, Windows, etc)
- Support building-level AV systems, Apple TV, projectors, paging systems, communications, and digital signage
- Contributes to the maintenance and launch of new applications and systems as needed, including installations, upgrades, maintenance, and support of systems, applications/software, hardware, and infrastructure.
- Utilize device management systems such as Google Admin Console, Mosyle MDM, Blocksi, and Windows Deployment Services
- Collaborate with others in the Technology Department for solutions, system escalations, and training
- Support PowerSchool modules, including scheduling, attendance, behavior, alerts, reporting, parent portal access, and staff/student communication tools
- Participate in ongoing training to grow capacity in instructional support, customer service, and technology systems
- Provides basic training, demonstration, and documentation for the use of district technology and software.
- Maintains appropriate work log and asset documentation, correspondence with end users, and collaborates in the tracking of devices
- Help establish and maintain procedures related to technology.
- Facilitates vendor services for technology hardware and software systems supported by the District.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with co-workers and district staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of student data at all times
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- An associate’s degree in a computer technology-related field is preferred. Approved field experience and/or industry certifications may be used in lieu of an Associate’s degree.
- Apple Device Support Certification required or willing to acquire within 90 days
- A+ certification or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in school settings, educational technology, or administrative support roles is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with staff and students in a collaborative environment
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills
- Demonstrates cooperative and effective communication skills, both oral and written, and applies active listening skills with people and situations.
- Experience with school information systems (ie, PowerSchool), digital learning tools, and device management platforms preferred
- Experience in supporting various technologies such as end-user devices, network connectivity, and related applications and peripherals is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team to accomplish work goals and objectives.
- Previous successful experiences in training, presenting information to groups and interpreting technical information. Able to break down complex, technical language and communicate it in a manner that the general staff can comprehend.
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple concurrent tasks are required.
